PPF Production, Theater Use and Events Calendar
The 2018-2019 Master Calendar provides a 12 month view of scheduled PPF activities. It is important to note that the calendar reflects approved theater use times based on our agreement with the Fairfax County Dept. of Neighborhood and Community Services – James Lee Community Center Theater Manager. These are theater access times and not necessarily rehearsal start and end times which are set by the director/production team of each production based on this calendar. This schedule is subject to some change over time and will be updated as warranted. From time to time, additional rehearsals are added, either in the theater if it is available, in other space at the James Lee Community Center, or in other locations. These additions will not be reflected on this master calendar as they are arranged separately for each production. Audition dates and any desired pick-up rehearsals for each production are NOT listed as they are arranged separately with the James Lee Theater Manager on a space available basis.
Parties!
Everybody loves a party and PPF sponsors plenty. We host an opening weekend (either opening night or opening Saturday – we have not made a final determination on this for the 2018-2019 season – so watch this space) for our productions open to members, cast, crew, playbill advertisers and donors.
Holiday Party – each year the Providence Players Board hosts an annual holiday party for members, playbill advertisers and donors at a local area restaurant. The PPF Holiday Party for this year will be held on January 5, 2018. Mark your calendar now!
Play Reading Schedule
Play readings are hosted at member homes throughout the year. The master calendar indicates twelve play reading dates but, in general, PPF holds play reading events from Sept – June on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. If you would like to host a play reading, email providenceplayers@cox.net.
Set Build Dates
We always need volunteer help from people of all skill levels for set construction weekend. There is something for everyone to do and we will teach people new skills as we go along. They are fun and the help is essential in building our award winning sets! Set builds generally run from 9 AM to 5 PM (at the latest) on a Saturday and Sunday early in the production cycle. Join us! No experience necessary. The planned set build dates for are 2016-2017 season are:
Fall Production: 9/8/18 & 9/9/18
Holiday Production: 11/10/18 & 11/11/18
Winter Production: 3/2/19 & 3/3/19
Spring Production: 5/4/19 and 5/5/19
Set Strike Dates
As with set builds, we always need volunteer help from people of all skill levels for set strike. Even for our “simple sets”, there is always a lot to do and plenty of help needed to take down the set itself, move and transport props and set pieces, clean up the James Lee makeup room, and storage area. With lots of volunteer help, these go quickly and smoothly. Join us! Set strikes are held on the Sunday after closing night except for the holiday show when strike is held immediately following the final performance. The set strike dates for the 2018-2019 season are:
Fall Production: 10/21/18
Holiday Production: 12/16/18 following the matinee
Winter Production: 4/14/19
Spring Production: 6/16/19
Annual Meeting
Once a year, the PPF Board convenes the entire membership for an annual business meeting. The meting is generally held at an area restaurant. We announce our next season, hear from each play’s directors, honor some members, review the company’s financial position and elect new board members. Its business but with a good dose of fun and fellowship. The Annual Meeting for 2019 is yet to be scheduled. Check back for date, time and place.
