The Providence Players, an award-winning, non-profit, all-volunteer community theater troupe serving Northern Virginia and the DC Metropolitan area, closes its 20th anniversary season with the Neil Simon comedy, California Suite. The production opens this weekend (Friday, June 1st at 7:30 PM) and runs through June 16th at the beautiful and historic, James Lee Community Center Theater at 2855 Annandale Road in Falls Church, Virginia.

At this writing, tickets are available for all performances of California Suite. The best seat selection for Providence Players productions is always available online as early in the run as possible. Sunday matinees are usually our first shows to sell out followed by our Saturday evening and then Friday evening performances. There are never service fees charged by PPF for online purchases and if you purchase online and your plans change, PPF Box Office volunteers are always willing to help you with exchanges.

As of Thursday May 31st, we anticipate that some tickets for walk in patrons will be available for opening night Friday evening and this weekend’s Saturday evening performance. We would advise advance online ticket purchases for Sunday’s matinee. Again, best seat selection, even right up to the time you leave for the theater, is always online. You may print your tickets at home to avoid any wait or pick up your tickets at the box office.

THE PLAY
California Suite is Neil Simon’s humorous confection in four separate comedy playlets with one common thread. Four couples from different cities travel to California over the course of a year and stay in the same Beverly Hills Hotel suite, bringing their problems, anxieties and comic marital dilemmas with them. Simon is at his most humane and compassionate, and the banter flies fast and furious in this popular comedy. The New York Times said “Mr. Simon is writing at his ebullient best…[He] makes us laugh so effortlessly.”
In Visitor from New York, a divorced couple, Bill and Hannah Warren, have met in the suite in order to discuss who will get custody of their teenage daughter.

In Visitor from Philadelphia, Marvin Michaels finds himself in a very difficult position when his wife Millie comes to meet him in the suite.

In Visitors from London, Sidney and Diana Nichols are a couple from London who have rented the suite to attend the Academy Awards.
