The 2015 Ruby Griffith Awards Ceremony was held this past Sunday, July 12th at the Bretton Woods Recreation Center in Germantown, Md. The providence Players production of Of Mice and Men was honored with the Ruby Griffith award for Outstanding Achievement in a Play for 2014. This is the award program’s top honor for a play. The award program, sponsored by the British Players, is designed to elevate the quality of local amateur theatre and reward excellence and outstanding achievement. Of Mice and Men, the opening production of our last season, was also previously honored by the Washington Area Community Theater Honors (WATCH) award program with 11 WATCH Award Nominations and garnered three WATCH awards:

Each year, Providence Players submits a single show to be adjudicated by the British Players Ruby Griffith Judges. Our most recent submission was this past spring’s The Glass Mendacity which will be considered for 2015 honors. The Providence Players have previously been recognized for numerous Ruby Griffith honors including a previous “Best Play” award (for The Shadow Box) and the award program’s top overall honor “All Round Production Excellence” (for All My Sons)
